WHY BECOME A
“CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL BALLROOM INSTRUCTOR”?

Why get Certified?
Being certified means many different things to many professional dancers.

This is what it means to me:

  1. that the validation of my certification is an honor of my achievement  for a goal  that I worked very hard for;

  2. that I believed in myself that I could fulfill and obtain a challenging goal by investing an unnumbered amount of hours of devotion, dedication and determination in learning over 300 patterns as a male/female.
  3. that I believe it illustrates to my students that we care enough about their dancing, as well as our own.

In order to be CERTIFIED in any level in Ballroom dancing, one must do the following:

  • One must be able to properly demonstrate each pattern showing proper footwork, technique, form, foot positioning, alignment, body positioning, and timing of all 10 dances as male/female. The ten dances are Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Rumba, Cha-Cha, Samba, Mambo and Merengue;
  • One must be able to demonstrate the “patterns” individually as male/female in all ten dances;

  • One must be able to demonstrate the “lead and follow” of each dance as a male/female in all ten dances without stopping and utilizing the floor in its proper manner; and the test will range anywhere from 3 to 5 hours and cost varies based on adjudicator.

A VERY SPECIAL THANKS TO RON MARCHAL, JAMES HEATH, GUILLERMO GONZALES AND TONY CARINHAS for their time, dedication and sharing of their dance knowledge with me.
